April 2007 - Beaux Chanteurs
An
original review featuring music and scenes
from Broadway productions that showcase younger characters and includes
“Matchmaker” from Fiddler on the Roof,
and songs from Babes in Arms; Bye, Bye,
Birdie; 1776; Big River; and
The Light in the Piazza. Joining Beaux Chanteurs are Eli Jones, 7, and
Margaret Ellis, 8 in a rendition of “Dites-moi” from South
Pacific.
Young
at Heart was conceived and directed by Jennifer Ellis and accompanied by
Dr. Henry Jones. Beaux Chanteurs, an adjunct of the Greater Baton Rouge
Children’s Chorus, is comprised of select high schoolers who have graduated
from the GBRCC choral program. Beaux Chanteurs represent public, private, and
homeschools in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
The
show was unique in that the performers explored roles and music specifically
written for teens and young adults. The intimate setting of the Women’s Club allowed the audience to experience the vibrant energy of these talented young
performers.
